On Wednesday mornings at 9:00 am, from April 15 through May 20, we will study the Acts of the Apostles. Acts is an account of the beginning of a new church and deals with how people deal with their faith after the death, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus. It talks of how the church moves on from the original followers of Jesus that we hear about in the Gospels. And like any budding institution or organism, the new church must learn how to solve differences, embrace new and diverse peoples and cultures, and begin to articulate what it believes. That articulation or expression finds itself in a culture that is dominated by an empire that often acts contrary to the teachings of Jesus and yet must be factored into how the new church survives, grows, and thrives. All are welcome to any or all of these discussions.
