The Rev. Canon Leyla King is a Palestinian-American Episcopal priest and writer. Her interactive presentation, “A Palestinian Christian Story,” provides a way into the conversation about the current realities in the Holy Land through the lens of her family’s experiences as Palestinian Christians. Her stories help us learn about the underlying roots of the conflict while equipping Western Christians to think and speak more compassionately about current events and future hopes in Palestine and Israel.
Leyla is a founding member of Palestinian Anglicans and Clergy Allies (Palestiniananglicans.org) and The Small Churches Big Impact Collective. Currently, she serves as the Canon for Mission in Small Congregations for the Episcopal Diocese of West Texas. She is also the niece of parishioners Solomon and Suzanne Owayada and the granddaughter of (former parishioner) Bahi Oueida.
